Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U (unofficially referred to as Super Smash Bros. 4) is a Japanese fighting game that was produced by Bandai Namco Games. The game was released by Nintendo on September 13, 2014 for the 3DS, and November 2014 for the Wii U. The Japanese version of the game was censored in order to get a lower age rating. The Tharja trophy was completely removed in order to maintain a E10+ rating.

Japanese censorship[]

  • The statue for Wonder-Pink was modified for the Japanese release. The Japanese version changed her pose and lengthened her skirt.
  • The statue for Lyn was modified for the Japanese release. In the Japanese, version her skirt was lengthened and her hip area was digitally darkened.
  • The statue and in-game model for Palutena were modified for the Japanese release. In the Japanese version, her skirt was lengthened.

International censorship[]

  • The Tharja trophy was originally in the game but was removed in order to maintain a E10+ rating.
  • Peach's underwear can no longer be seen when you pause the game and zoom in. When you do all you see is a black void. (unlike in Brawl and Melee)
  • Zelda's legs/thighs can no longer be seen when you pause the game and zoom in. When you do all you see is a black void. (unlike in Brawl, Melee and Ultimate.)
  • Bayonetta unlike in her games is no longer nude when she uses a final attack and there is no longer any blood like there is in her games.
  • Female Corrin's legs are now fully covered unlike in Fire Emblem Fates/Heroes.
