Saints Row 2 is an action-adventure video game that was developed by Volition, CD Projekt Localisation Centre (Windows) and published by THQ. The video game was released on October 14, 2008. In order to release in Germany the game had to be censored.

- The game in its uncensored form was banned for high impact violence. Later, a censored version was released.
- Pools of blood were removed.
- Blood splatters were removed.
- Ragdoll effects were removed.
- Corpses disappear in two-three seconds.
- Corpses can no longer be revived due to them disappearing so fast.
- Enemies can no longer catch on fire instead thick smoke covers them.
- Civilians no longer drop money when shot or killed.
- You can no longer grab enemies and hold them down.
- In the mission "Bank mistakes in your favor" you no longer have to shoot your way free sense the cops will no longer shoot at you due to you having a hostage.
- In the mission "Prepayment" if you grab the homeless people you can no longer throw them into their huts to destroy the huts.
- You can no longer grab random civilians to use as a human shield.
- In the mission "Veteran's" DJ Veteranchild is no longer using Shaundi as a human shield.
- The finishing fight club move was removed due to it being considered too violent.
- The Kanata moves were changed so they all perform a simple normal Kanata attack due to them being considered too violent.
- The Combat Tricks system was removed.
- The Activity "Amokfahrt" civilians no longer get set on fire.

- The Activity "Wild crowd" was removed.
- The mini game "Uprising of the zombies" had the amount of violence toned down.
- The mini game "Drive past" was removed.
- The job "pimping" had all of the moans and sexual dialogue removed.
- In the mission "Breakout" you no longer have to kill the prison doctor.
- The flamethrower weapon was removed.
- The Chainsaw weapon was removed.
- The Pioneer Charge weapon removed.
- Zombie Carlos can no longer be shot in the head.
- If you linger in the game's start menu for a few minutes, a compilation of several television programs is shown, as if the player were zapping through the Stilwater television program. News13 shows a Brotherhood raid in which a woman is shot and a man is knocked down. Channel 6 News reports on the conditions on the Stilwater University campus all of this was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "Numbers, please" the scene that shows the player hitting the bartender in the face with a beer bottle was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "Prologue: "New People" the scene that shows several dead bums in/near the Saints HQ was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!".
- The scene that shows the Player hitting the head of a dead homeless man with his foot and jokingly asks the dead man for help was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "Who has the choice ..." Carlos a member of the 3rd Street Saints getting chained to the bumper of a car by the brotherhood and getting dragged halfway across town was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "And the band continues to play" the player beats up musician was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "It is not the fall that kills you ..." the player ramming a tattoo machine into Maero's neck was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "Fratricide" the player beating Maero after he climbs out of his overturned vehicle and then killing him was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "Gracious Hosts" Johnny Gat dragging a member of the Ronin into the Aishcha house to question him. And then hitting his head through the glass plate on the coffee table was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "Bleed Out" the player using a Ronin as a human shield was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "Big Problems in Little China" Johnny shooting the occupants of a vehicle at close range was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "Coup de Gras"" In the final Ronin mission the player fights Kazuo Akuji and rams the samurai sword in his back was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "Pipes are for pipes" Shaundi smashing a lightbulb in order to use it as a pipe for the drug loud dust was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"

- In the mission "Music love" Mr. Sunshine hitting one of the music lovers in the back with his machete was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "This and that" the scene where the boyfriend hands Shanundi a pipe was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"

- In the mission "Small blows on the back of the head ..." Mr. Sunshine getting his eat cut partly off with a machete was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"

- In the mission "A gang leader went into a bar ..." the player using the bartender as a human shield was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "End of the game" the player pointing the gun at Dane Vogel and pulling the trigger was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- In the mission "The hatchling is buried" The player shooting Julius in the head was replaced with a black screen that says "We beg your pardon - very bad things happen behind this black screen!"
- The word "kill" was mostly removed.
- The statistics showing no longer show how many people you have killed.
- 8 Achievements were removed due to that content being cut or changed.
