Resident Evil 2 is an Japanese horror video game that was developed by Capcom and it was published by Capcom. The video game was released on January 21, 1998. In order to get the game released in Japan and Germany violence had to be toned down. The Japanese censorship was latter toned down with the release of Resident Evil 2 Z.
Censorship
Germany Censorship
- Any scene that shows blood during the in game cutscenes were modified for the German release. In the German version the blood was digitally recolored grey.
- Any scene that shows the enemies bleeding was modified for the German release. In the German version the blood was digitally recolored green.
- The scene that shows a zombie killing your "character" was modified for the German release. In the German version the scene was replaced with a white background that says "You died".
Japanese Censorship
