Doom II is a first-person shooting video game that was developed by id Software and published by GT Interactive Software. The video game was released on October 10, 1994, the BFG edition of the game was censored, most likely due to German policies on video game content, and the GBA port was censored to get a lower age rating.

International censorship[]

BFG Edition
  • Nazi symbols were removed.
  • SS soldiers were replaced with zombies.
  • The level "Wolfenstein" was renamed "Idkfa"
  • The level "Grosse" was renamed "Keen"
GBA
  • Blood was recolored green.
  • When you take too much damage the image of you on the bottom part of the screen becomes bloodied. In the GBA version the blood was removed.
  • Enemies no longer can burst apart into a giant red ball of blood.
  • Corpses disappear in a couple of seconds.
  • You can no longer find mutilated/impaled corpses throughout the game.
  • Nazi symbols were removed.

German censorship[]

  • The levels Wolfenstein and Big are missing from the German release.

Where to find it uncensored[]

The non-BFG versions of the game on the PC are uncensored.
